Our sweet and spicy chicken beans will keep your guests coming for more! This recipe is a fusion of juicy chicken, tender beans, and a perfect balance of sweetness and heat.


8 chicken drumsticks and thighs
45g flour
30g chicken spice
5g paprika
30ml oil
250ml (1 cup) sugar
250ml (1 cup) water
125ml white wine vinegar
3 cloves garlic; chopped
15 long red chillies; finely chopped
2 tins baked beans
2 tsp. honey


  1. In a bag, coat the chicken with the flour.

  2. Heat oil in a heat-proof pan/tray over medium heat. Add chicken to the hot pan skin side down and brown, turning for 5 minutes. Remove chicken from pan.

  3. Return pan to medium low heat, add sugar, water, vinegar, garlic and chillies, and cook stirring for 5 minutes or until sugar dissolves.

  4. Add the beans and return chicken to the pan. 

  5. Bake chicken for 15 minutes or until cooked.

  6. Serve with Ouma bread to mop up the beans.
